Voices for Kids raises assistance money

December 11, 2012
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida, Inc., a nonprofit agency supporting Florida's 20th Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program, raised over $64,000 through its 'Celebrate the Voices' signature fundraising events in Lee and Collier counties on Nov. 10 and 17.

The much-needed dollars raised will assist VFK to recruit and train Guardians for the 575 children who do not have one and fund its Kids Being Kids Program, which provides those items that give the 1,440 children in the program a sense of normalcy in their lives: a warm cozy bed; emergency clothing; participation in sports the arts, social clubs; academic tutoring; happier birthdays; summer camp; medical needs, etc.

Joseph R. Catti, President & CEO of FineMark National Bank & Trust, was awarded the esteemed Voice of the Year award.

Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida serves Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. The Guardian ad Litem Program supports volunteers who advocate for abused, neglected and abandoned children in court, the child welfare system and the community. VFK's mission is to ensure every abused, neglected, and abandoned child in Southwest Florida has a Guardian ad Litem volunteer and every GAL has access to financial assistance and resources available for meeting the child's health, educational and social needs, not provided by any other source.
