To the editor:
Larry Kiker was an outstanding mayor for Fort Myers Beach and will bring refreshing change to the Lee County Commission.
I am a four-year resident of Fort Myers Beach. Mayor Kiker is leaving our town in a better place than when he arrived on the city council. His business acumen and common sense will help put Lee County and Southwest Florida in a good position to create more jobs, increase tourism and increase opportunity for our troubled economy.
In an Oct. 23rd News Press guest opinion, Larry Kiker's opponent admits to trusting the opinion of a non-Fort Myers Beach resident to promote negative allegations and misinformation about our former mayor. Shame on you! I am familiar with Larry Kiker's record on tourism promotion, outstanding oversight of the north Estero Boulevard project and improvements to our beach transportation and visitor safety.
Voters on the beach do support Larry Kiker's work and record as evidenced by his two general election wins and landslide primary victory for county commissioner. The residents and visitors to Lee County will be the beneficiaries of Larry Kiker's leadership, dedication and service as our next commissioner.
