Cirque du Soleil: Dralion wows SWFL during local performance thru Sunday

Cirque du Soleil's critically-acclaimed touring production of Dralion will be performing right here in Southwest Florida, at Germain Arena, 11000 Everblades Parkway Estero, Aug. 1 to 5, for seven spectacular shows.

Thrilling more than 8 million people worldwide since the show premiered in 1999, Dralion is the fusion of a 3,000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, drawing its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature.

The show's name is derived from its two emblematic creatures: the dragon, symbolizing the East, and the lion, symbolizing the West.

"Personally, I have seen the show, and it is absolutely breathtaking. You will be on the edge of your seat throughout the entire program!" said Gaby Lambertus, account coordinator of the Conroy Martinez Group, in charge of the show's marketing campaign. "The fusion of music, lights and mind-blowing talent makes Dralion an extraordinary show for the entire family."

During the performance, the four elements that govern the natural order take on human form. As their own characters, each element is represented by its evocative color: air is blue; water is green; fire is red; earth is taupe.

"In the world of Dralion, cultures blend, man and nature are one, and balance is achieved," Gaby said. "The international cast features 52 world-class acrobats, gymnasts, musicians, singers and comedic characters that put on one of the greatest 2-hour-and-15-minute shows Cirque du Soleil has ever displayed."
