Fort Myers Beach man dies while at work trimming trees

An unidentified man died while trimming trees on a property near Beach Seafood on San Carlos Island at roughly 2:20 p.m. Thursday.

The man was apparently working in a bucket truck for a tree and lawn service when he touched a live wire.

Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies and Fort Myers Beach Fire District Control officials were on the scene. The man was transported by ambulance to an undisclosed medical site.

Police and fire officials tape off the area of the electrocution.

Updates are expected once next of kin is located.

UPDATE: The man has been identified as an island local known as Denny "The Martian Man" Boyle, a Fort Myers Beach resident and big part of the community, always lending a helping hand and doing his part for the community.

UPDATE: Dennis Boyle's date of birth: 08-17-1950.

On April 12, 2012 at 2:17 p.m., Lee County Sheriffs Deputies were called to a medical assistance call at 768 Oak Street on Fort Myers Beach. Upon arrival, a deceased male was discovered.

Due to the nature of the death, the Major Crimes Unit is actively conducting a death investigation.
