Boat parade planner seeks participation

October 26, 2011
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

I am writing this letter to stir up some early interest in the annual Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Christmas Boat Parade scheduled for Dec. 3.

As part of the planning committee, I am happy to announce a new feature this year -boat sponsorship by businesses, organizations, schools and you name it.

There is no cost for entry or boat sponsorship. There are some inherent costs like decorations, minimal fuel and possibly refreshments. We have always had no entry fee, and we feel that sponsorship will help defray the cost of decorations and provide manpower to decorate the boats.

More importantly we hope to have a much larger parade for everyone to enjoy. We presently have over 20 boats. If you have a business, or are in an organization, please consider entering a boat. If you would like to sponsor a boat and do not know a boat owner let us pair you up. Also if you have a waterfront location along the route, consider having a party to watch the parade.

As always the local waterfront restaurants and watering holes will be a great venue to view the parade. The route will be published in press releases and can be found along with applications at ft-myers-beach.fortmyersbeachchamber.org/Events/details/fort-myers-beach-chamber-christman-boat-parade.

If you have any questions please direct them to the chamber or email me at trstwo@comcast.net,
