Beach Kiwanis hold weekly meeting
The FMB Kiwanis held their weekly meeting at Saint Raphael’s Church. In keeping with our commitment to give back to the community, the FMB Kiwanis were able to help two families this week. This was made possible through generous donations to the Thrift Shop and our loyal customers.
Also, an interclub trip took place in Sanibel on Tuesday. The FMB Kiwanis were welcomed warmly. The speaker was Connie Manz from 21st Century Oncology. The topic was prostate cancer and breast cancer. These two types of cancer are the most common types of cancer. A PSA blood test can determine if a man has prostate cancer. If caught early, this disease has an opportunity of an 81 to 90 percent cure rate. Breast cancer can also be detected early with a mammogram. The opportunity for cure is 85 to 90 percent. Please do not overlook these tests.
21st Century Oncology was founded in Fort Myers 30 years ago. Today, it has grown to 250 offices in the U.S. and 8 other countries. Instead of patients traveling miles away for treatment, the 21st Century Oncology provides services in the community.
The Thrift Shop is located on the corner of Summerlin and Pine Ridge Rd. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 454-8090. New members and volunteers are always welcome.
