To the editor:
Thanks for your article on sea turtles in the Observer.
I took my family, including two dogs, to Dog Beach on Tuesday. While wading in the shallow surf, I thought I spotted a crab just a few feet in front of me. Turns out it was a young sea turtle. He was scampering across the sea floor toward open waters. We watched until he was out of sight.
It was SO thrilling as we'd never seen a live sea turtle up close like that! We're glad the island is conscious of these animals and doing its best to maintain a safe habitat for them.
