FGCU announces new officers, members of foundation board

The Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Inc. announced its new slate of officers and incoming board members for 2011-2012 at its quarterly meeting Tuesday at the Embassy Suites in Estero.

James Knupp was named chairperson of the FGCU Foundation Board. Knupp is a founding partner of Ennis, Knupp & Associates, a privately held investment consulting firm. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2005. Knupp serves as chairman of the executive committee, represents the Foundation at public and social functions, and presides over all Foundation meetings.

John Fumagalli was named vice chairperson of the FGCU Foundation Board. Fumagalli is the President and CEO for the Southwest Florida region for Northern Trust. Fumagalli has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2007. As the FGCU Foundation Board vice chairperson, he serves as chairman of the Development Committee.

Charles Winton was named treasurer of the FGCU Foundation Board. Winton is owner of Estero Bay Chevrolet. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2008. As the FGCU Foundation Board treasurer, he serves as chairman of the Finance Committee.

Steve Magiera was elected as assistant treasurer of the FGCU Foundation Board. Magiera is vice president for Administration and Finance at FGCU.

Miller Couse was named secretary of the FGCU Foundation Board. Couse is the Chairman and CEO of the First Bank of Clewiston. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2009.

Juliet Sproul was honored with the designation of Foundation Fellow.

Along with new officers, the FGCU Foundation Board also elected four new members to four-year terms. They are David Call who is the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Bank (South Florida), Pat Barton of Naples, Kim Johnson who is a co-managing partner of Quarles & Brady in Naples and managing partner of its newly opened Tampa office, and Jeff Provol owner of Classified, Inc.

The purpose of the FGCU Foundation is to support the educational mission of the University. The FGCU Foundation encourages, solicits, receives and administers gifts for scientific, educational and charitable purposes, all for the advancement of the University.
