Ground Breaking

After what has seemed like a long process, the Building Permit has been issued and received. The last few weeks have been a roller coaster time as it seemed that added surprises were part of the last steps of obtaining the permit. Our hope was for ground breaking last month but took place in short order on April 5, as construction orders and moves were ready.

The Permit and Impact fees accompanying this authorization were $55,873.77. The entire review process was a long one but hopefully one that has made the project even more effective, safe, and forward-looking.

Discussion

Public libraries represent the collective commitment of a community to their future.

We look forward to the day when we can schedule events and activities and not worry about too many people in the conference room. This in itself will enable us to develop an outreach program that highlights more of the wonderful discoveries via new authors, creative works, and exploring directions.

Public libraries number around 9,000 in the United States. For comparison purposes, think of this as compared to 1,750 Target locations, 2,300 Home Depot sites, and 4,500 Radio Shack locations. We recognize there are changes afoot and with the increased usage of libraries across the states, e.g. nationwide, visits to public libraries totaled 1.50 billion, or 5.1 library visits per capita, this will be even more pronounced. Libraries are in the process of exploring services. It is exciting that we will have more options with the expansion.

Library Hours

Don’t remember library hours? When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours of operation, either on 765-8162 or on 765-8163. Except for holidays, we are open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 to 5, and Saturday 9 to 1. We look forward to seeing you.
