Mardi Gras is creeping up on us, and once again, The Cottage and the Gulfshore Grill (1270 Estero Blvd.) will be hosting its third annual Fat Tuesday benefit in honor of Beach Elementary, taking place Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.
"As we all know, the Lee County School District has taken a huge hit the past couple of years due to budget cuts on State and Federal levels," said Roxanne Jakaitis, manager of The Cottage. "All the money raised will buy new books and supplies that are no longer supplied by the district. It will also allow the school to purchase new equipment needed, as well as fund many enriching activities that our A+ School is known for."
During the benefit, plenty of live and local music will be heard from a few of the many talented musicians this beach has become known for. Of them, you'll hear Steve Farst, the New Vinyls, the Drunk Monkeys, Headcount and A200.
There will also be plenty of prizes, raffles, 50/50s, drawings and giveaways, mainly taking place between 3 and 9 p.m.
"This is a perfect opportunity to give back to our community. The money will go directly to our school to enhance the education of our children," Roxanne said.
Prizes are still needed for the raffles.
"We cannot do it on our own. However, with the help of all of you, we can make the day a huge success for Fort Myers Beach Elementary. Any raffle prizes/donations would be greatly appreciated!"
