Halloween happenings around Fort Myers Beach

OK, you've had plenty of time to get your costumes just right and your plans in order for the biggest spooky night of the year. So??What're you doing for Halloween? What are you waiting for? Where are you going to show those cool costumes off?

Lucky for you, plenty of Beach businesses are hosting Halloween parties this weekend what a perfect time to ghoul and glam it up!

Bay Oaks Rec Center

This year's Halloween Fright Night will be held Friday, Oct. 30, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Bay Oaks Rec Center. Be ready for plenty of spooky surprises and frightening fun. All little goblins and ghosts and all other creatures of all ages will be able to parade around in front of judges to see who has the best costume.

There will also be plenty of Halloween carnival games, a cake walk, a fortune teller, ghost stories and a very spooky haunted house.

Admission is $4 a person or $10 for a family, and each paid admission will get 20 tickets for each kid. Additional tickets will be available for 25 cents each. The Beach School's PTO will have monster munchies and beverages available for purchase. For more info, call 765-4222.

The

Beached Whale

The Beached Whale's hosting an all-night costume party and contest starting at 9 p.m. with live music from the rock and roll cover band Chicago Mob.

Plenty of drink specials will be offered, and costume contest winners will be awarded with tons of Whale cash (gift certificates). Categories are best overall and naughtiest. Judging's at 10:30 p.m.

Bobby's Roast Beef

Halloween night at Bobby's Roast Beef will include a haunted Halloween magic show by magician John D. at 10 p.m. Be ready for some scary tricks and illusions up this magician's sleeve. This place is open 'til 3 a.m. for all you after-hours ghosts and ghouls out there.

Bonita Bill's

A freakishly good Halloween Pirates of San Carlos Island costume party will start at Bonita Bill's at 2 p.m. Be ready to compete for the best Capt. Jack Sparrow impersonator and most authentic wench. Music by Peppermint Patty (2 to 6 p.m.) and the Boat Lizards (6 to 10 p.m.) will take the stage.

The Cottage

This place is one of the most rockin' spots on FMB Halloween Night. Steve Farst will rock from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., costume contests for first and second-place single person, couple and group costumes will be awarded in cash and gift certificates. Judging is at midnight and, yes, you must be present to win. Drink specials will be offered all night.

"It's the best place to be on the Beach for Halloween," said Leslie Donovan, Cottage manager.

This new spot is hosting a Halloween bash Friday, Oct. 30, from 7 p.m. to close, complete with costume contest, live music by Colton James and giveaways all night. Food and drink specials will be offered all day, including beer buckets, all-you-can-eat fried fish and more.

The Sandy Butler

The Sandy Butler will be serving up a ghoulish gourmet at its second annual Halloween party and wine dinner Halloween night, beginning at 7 p.m. As darkness falls that evening, this local restaurant and worldly market will transform into a "spooktacular" sight.

Chef Michael Ragusa will stir up some wicked fresh gourmet brew, featuring mysterious cuisine from Romania paired with cryptic red and white wines. There should be plenty of eerie music, dancing, costumes and wicked good times, too. The cost is $55 per person to attend. Guests wearing a costume will receive at $5 gift card to the restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

The Yucatan Beach Stand

What's a holiday without the Yucatan celebrating it? From 8 p.m. to close Halloween night, this Bay Walk hot spot will invite ghouls and goblins to enjoy spooky drinks and cocktails, along with plenty of dance music from DJ?Jan Miller in the "haunted" establishment, complete with eerie lighting and fog.

A costume contest will award winners with a $100 cash grand prize, along with $50 gift certificates for the scariest, funniest and sexiest, as well as most creative. Judging takes place at 11 p.m.

Zombie pub crawl

Starting on Primo Drive, behind the Whale

This first ever Zombie pub crawl will hit all the local hot spots, starting at 9 p.m.:?the Beached Whale, Surf Club, Jimmy B's, the Lighthouse, S.O.B.'s, Yucatan, Top O' Mast, the Mermaid and the Cottage.

Dress in your scariest zombie attire and be ready to crawl the beach for braaaaaaains I mean a scary good time!
