Pub crawlin' for a cause

World's shortest pub crawl Saturday for the FMB Fireworks Fund

May 8, 2009

What surely must hold some kind of world record, the Yucatan Beach Stand and Lighthouse Tiki Bar are teaming up this weekend to hold the world's shortest pub crawl to benefit the Fort Myers Beach Fourth of July Fireworks Fund, Saturday, May 9.

Kicking off around 1 p.m. that day, the party will start at the Yucatan, with plenty of live music, raffles, prizes and 50/50s based around a cook-out.

Once everyone's good and ready for the "long haul," the fund-raising troop will head to the Lighthouse Tiki, where plenty more live music, raffles, prizes and 50/50s will take place, around another cook-out.

After a whole lot of fun at the Lighthouse Tiki, the troop will head back to the Yucatan for some more fun, prizes, giveaways and live music from Al Holland.

And for those of you who aren't quick enough to hop to the next pub, the winning numbers will be posted at both locations, just in case some pub-hoppers don't make it back over.

Another way the Yucatan and Lighthouse Tiki will raise funds for the charity will be by choosing one particular item from their menus, and for each of those items sold that day, a portion of it will go to the FMB fireworks display fund.

Just a couple of the large, grand raffle prizes up for grabs will be a two-bottle tequila chiller that holds two full bottles, chilling them down to a cool zero degrees; a three-day, two-night Bahamas cruise, and a two-night stay at the Lighthouse Resort.

Grand-prize winners need not be present to win. Just make sure you put your full name and phone number on your ticket before entering, just in case you're not there when it's called.

Plenty of other prizes and giveaways will be had during this entire benefit, including beer coozies, T-shirts and plenty of BEADS, so come on down, support a great cause and have a great time doing so!

To donate an item for the raffles and prizes, call Yucatan manager Steve DeAngelis, 822-1369.
