English country dance lessons

Learn the social dances of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries during English country dance lessons at Wa-Ke Hatchee Rec Center (16355 Summerlin Road) every Tuesday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dress is casual, and be sure to wear flat shoes with non-slip soles. Partners are not necessary – and beginners are welcome to join in. This is also a family-friendly event, so feel free to bring the kids. Lessons are free after a one-time payment of $10, which covers a lifetime membership to the rec center. New Beach manager to speak at civic meeting

Fort Myers Beach Civic Association monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 3751 Estero Boulevard. Come and meet Terry and ask him questions. It's also the association's annual membership meeting in which members will vote on board members' terms. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, islanders also will be able to spend an evening with the three candidates running for Town Council. The Civic Association's Candidates Forum will be held at the council chambers at Town Hall and starts at 7 p.m. Come and ask questions of the folks who want to govern your town.
