Guided moonlight canoe trips

A guided moonlight canoe trip will paddle down the river Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25, 26 and 27. Enjoy an evening paddle by moonlight as you join a park naturalist and discover the dynamic changes and reflections nighttime brings along the Blackwater River. Rain barrel workshop

A “Florida Yards and Neighborhoods” rain barrel workshop will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. and Saturday, March 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. as well at Rutenberg Park, 6490 South Pointe Blvd., Fort Myers, to learn how rain barrels can collect water from your roof. Only a one-quarter inch of rain off a typical roof will create more than 600 gallons of water, and the class will be taught by Lee County Extension Master Gardeners. The group’s 55-gallon recycled barrels will be transformed into a rain barrel during the class that you can take home. Conserve water, prevent storm water run-off and save money.
