Mahjong club shows some tiles The Purple Dragon Mahjong Club that plays at the Island Plaza Shopping Center, 15675-1 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, is having the following events open to the public. Beginner mahjong classes to learn this ancient Chinese game will be held on Monday and Thursday afternoons, from 1 to 3 p.m.The cost is $15 per class.   Refresher classes. If you have been playing for a little while and want to improve your level of play or learn some strategies and skills, this is the class for you. They are be held Monday and Thursday afternoons, 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $15 per class.   Mahjong tournament. For the mahjong player who enjoys competition and challenge and would like to play mah jongg with people from all over Florida, join the group for the mahjong weekend tournament Jan. 23, 24, and 25. Shell Point highlights history of Uncommon Friends Foundation

The public is invited to attend a presentation about the Uncommon Friends Foundation sponsored by The Academy at Shell Point Retirement Community. The seminar will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Grand Cypress Room, which is located in The Woodlands Commons at Shell Point. The scheduled presenter is Arlene Roth, Executive Director Uncommon Friends Foundation. This event is free and open to the public; however, RSVPs are required since space is limited.
