The Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Memory Walk will take place Saturday, Nov. 21, at Centennial Park, 2000 W. First St., downtown Fort Myers. Pre-Walk activities will begin at 8 a.m., the walk begins at 9 a.m. Nearly 300 people are expected to participate in this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. The walk is held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, relying on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Organizers of the event said participants in Memory Walks across the United States have raised more than $300 million. A Christmas toy drive and car show, hosted by the Gulf Shore Mustang Club of Southwest Florida, will be held at the Gulf Coast Town Center (I-75 and Alico Road) Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with check-in from 9 to 11 a.m. The registration fee is $10 plus one toy. Trophies, 50/50 and raffles will take place, as well as plenty more. The benefit is to help the “Littles,” the children of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
