American Indian book signing

The Beach Book Nook, 7205 Estero Blvd., in the Santini Marina Plaza, will hold a book signing Monday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Aleechawa, a Cherokee Native American Indian author currently working on her fourth book. Her previous three books are “Lady in the Moon,” “Someone’s Child” and “Message in the Wind,” which was written from a journal she kept while walking all 1,100 miles of the Trail of Tears alone, carrying a 50-pound backpack in 1993. She was the first modern day woman to have done that. All three issues will be available for purchase at the signing, and Aleechawa will be dressed in full Indian attire. Mahjong club shows some tiles The Purple Dragon Mahjong Club that plays at the Island Plaza Shopping Center, 15675-1 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, is having the following events open to the public. Beginner mahjong classes to learn this ancient Chinese game will be held on Monday and Thursday afternoons, from 1 to 3 p.m.The cost is $15 per class.   Refresher classes. If you have been playing for a little while and want to improve your level of play or learn some strategies and skills, this is the class for you.
